Volunteer Opportunities

For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. – Ephesians 2:10 NIV

The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. – 1 Corinthians 12:12 NIV

God has gifted each of us.  He wants us to use our gifts to fulfill His mission here in the Puget Sound area and throughout the world.  Serving is a Northshore core value.  Doing God’s work isn’t just the responsibility of the church staff, but of everyone who follows Jesus.  We grow when we serve others.  There is no more meaningful, fulfilling or significant work than that which God would have us do.  Everyone has a part in it!

Start by taking Get in the Game 301, Discover Your Ministry.  In this class you will learn how to identify work you are passionate about.  You will learn about spiritual gifts and how God has made each of us uniquely for a specific mission.  You’ll have an opportunity to take a spiritual gifts assessment to learn exactly what your gifts may be.  You can then choose opportunities that are a good fit once you know where your passions and gifts are.  Northshore offers opportunities to serve here on the church campus, in our community and even outside of the United States.

If you have a specific area of interest, directly contact the person who is in charge of that area.  Click here for a complete listing of our ministry leaders.

For additional opportunities you can review our current Ministry Catalog and Bulletin

If you simply aren’t sure where you would like to serve, simply stop by the information booth or chat with one of our pastors.  We can help you find a good fit.

A note about serving at Northshore.  The bible tells us (Ephesians 4:12-13, below) that the church staff exists to train and encourage all believers to do God’s work.  Northshore is a battleship, not a cruise ship.  We want everyone to experience the excitement and meaning in doing God’s work.  This is why there is a constant cycle of Get in the Game classes, each to allow you to grow in faith and better prepare you for a part in God’s mission.  This is also why you see volunteers running key church ministries and having a meaningful presence in our weekend services.

Northshore believes in strengths-based leadership, where your skills and gifts are a good fit for the work you are doing (1 Corinthians 12).  We are energized when we work in our strengths.  In the broadest sense it’s more fruitful to spend time developing our strengths/gifts than repairing weaknesses.

In everyone’s life there’s the ordinary stuff you have to do, then there is the mission that God has for each of us.  Northshore wants you to hear God’s call, find a good fit in His body and experience Him in a way you never have.

Their (church staff) responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.  - Ephesians 4:12-13 NLT
