We Are Part of a Bigger Story
Series:
Summary
Pastor Nick welcomed the congregation to Pentecost Sunday and began by connecting the day's theme to a broader story—like how Star Wars starts in the middle, Pentecost in Acts 2 is part of a much older narrative. He explained that Pentecost didn’t begin in the New Testament but had deep roots in Jewish tradition, specifically as a celebration held 50 days after Passover known as the Feast of Weeks. This feast commemorated God’s provision and the giving of the law at Mount Sinai, and people would travel to Jerusalem to offer their first and best harvest to God. The crowds in Acts 2 weren’t there by chance; God had been orchestrating this moment for generations. Pastor Nick invited listeners to understand Pentecost not as an isolated event, but as part of God’s grand story of covenant, promise, and Spirit-empowered life.
