What is Awana?

At Awana we help you disciple your children by making learning about God fun, by using age appropriate curriculum, memorization incentives, goofy themes days, and amazing leaders to keep the clubbers engaged. While each club is different and designed specifically for that age group, the message and values are the same. We teach who Jesus is (God's Son), what He has done for us (died on the cross and rose again), how we can have eternal life (faith in Jesus Christ), and what we must do (submit and serve Him).

Club meetings consist of Handbook Time (where clubbers recite the verses they learned for the week), Large Group Time (where they learn more truths about our wonderful Savior), and Game Time (where they play specially designed Awana games). We add in extra fun by belonging to a team where we compete each week to become the Team of the Week”. For the clubbers who like to compete, they can join us as we test our knowledge at Bible Quiz events and test our agility in Awana games against other churches.

Cubbies

Preschooler (Cubbies enter two years before they start Kindergarten)

Preschoolers can hardly wait for their next Cubbies club meeting. Whether it's the fun puppets, the exciting games or all their Cubbies friends, they simply love it. At Story Time each week, preschoolers learn about God – the greatness of His love and His Word – and about His Son, Jesus Christ, the promised Savior.

Sparks

Kindergarten to 2nd Grade

Sparks club ignites the curiosity of early elementary-age kids to learn about the people and events of the Bible, building a foundation of wisdom for knowing Christ. They love their red vests, patches, and jewels they earn. Along with this, there’s exciting games and time spent with leaders and friends. This three year ministry will take your child on a journey through the entire Bible! Each week through their handbook activities they will explore biographies of people in the Bible and memorize Bible verses.

Truth & Training (T&T)

3rd Grade to 5th Grade

T&T engages clubbers by answering their questions about God and the Bible, and by guiding them through this pivotal life stage to grow in Christ's grace. Handbooks and large group lessons minister to your children as the lessons work to deepen a child's knowledge about God and His Word and teach how to put that knowledge into action in everyday life. The ultimate message to kids of every age group is that nothing is more important than their relationship with Christ and following His way of living as presented in the Scriptures. This three year ministry will guide your child through question like, "How do I know the Bible is true?” Over time they will memorize eight answers to each key question and verses to back them up.

Trek

Middle School

Trek challenges students to wrestle with the three most important questions they're asking in middle school:

  • Who am I?
  • Why am I here?
  • Who's with me?

By allowing students to dive deep into the Scriptures and answer these questions for themselves, we allow them to own their faith and discover what they actually believe. Each week the students will study a part of Scripture through the guidance of their handbooks, and discuss their findings at club. Upon completion of this three year ministry, students will have read through the New Testament.

We don't forget to have fun in Trek! Fun outings and extra events happen throughout the year.

Journey

High School

Journey establishes high school students as lifelong disciples through a deep study of God's Word, mobilizing them to live with godly perspective, and evident faith. Journey is a place where students work side by side with their leaders and friends to deepen their faith, ask questions, help prepare themselves for the life, and ministry the Lord has in store for them. Upon completion of this ministry, they will have read through the entire Bible, and memorized an amazing amount of scripture. This club like the others, focuses on deeper relationships created in small groups, while being discipled and living life together.

Like Trek, there is also plenty of fun to be had through extra activities and events designed specifically for high school students.

Ann Borrero

Life Group & Awana Leader

I love the Lord dearly and studying His Word is my daily delight. It encourages me and helps me to know His truths. In women’s ministry, I found fellowship and encouragement through the ladies and so I want to support others in their walk with the Lord as well. I am also involved in our Awana ministry here at Northshore as a Cubbies Director, helping the littlest to know, love, and serve the Lord.
