Welcome! Thanks for joining us in our 2024 Advent Observances. These short daily thoughts are designed for us to sit (if possible in a quiet place), be still, be present to the Lord and ourselves for thought and prayer.
Day 7
Longing is the theme of our Christmas sermon series. One meaning for longing from the Oxford Dictionary is “a yearning desire”. Dr. Curt Thompson in his book, The Soul of Desire (page 63), writes:
God longs for us to be aware that he longs for us.
What a remarkable thought. Read that again out loud very slowly.
Read Ezekiel 37:27 out loud, slowly:
My dwelling place shall be with them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
- How do these thoughts make you feel?
- What do these thoughts make you think?
CLOSING PRAYER
Father, help me to live from the truth that you,
the God of the universe, you, the God who created by the power of His word,
you, the God who is full of unfailing love long for me.
Amen.
