Welcome! Thanks for joining us in our 2024 Advent Observances. These short daily thoughts are designed for us to sit (if possible in a quiet place), be still, be present to the Lord and ourselves for thought and prayer.  

Day 8 

Billy Graham writes in Unto the Hills, 

God wants us to long for Him because it is in that longing that we are fulfilled . . . 
We are never more fulfilled than when our longing for God is met by His presence in our lives.

Re-read these words again, slowly, out loud.

Read Isaiah 55:1-3, from the Amplified Bible, out loud, slowly

Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters;
And you who have no money come, buy grain and eat.
Come, buy wine and milk
Without money and without cost [simply accept it as a gift from God].

Why do you spend money for that which is not bread,
And your earnings for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good,
And let your soul delight in abundance.

Incline your ear [to listen] and come to Me;
Hear, so that your soul may live;

• What do these verses from Isaiah 55 tell us about the two ways to fulfill the longing in our soul?
