Prayers for Pentecost: Day 5

by Church Staff on June 13, 2025

We encourage you to write in a journal or a notebook. Writing is helpful in the process of noticing His voice and keeping us present to the moment.

Set a timer for one to two minutes to sit in stillness to quiet your heart and mind.

It is one thing to be aware of what the Holy Spirit does and is capable of.

Oh Lord, you have searched me and know me!
Psalm 139:1

It is another thing for me to be open to Him and actually invite and cooperate with Him in His mysterious and transformative work in me.

Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!
Psalm 139:23-24

Read Psalm 139:23-24

Note in your journal the thoughts and feelings that come to your mind as you invite the Holy Spirit to do His work in you?

Read the verses again.

Is there something the Holy Spirit continues to bring to mind through these words? Have a conversation with Him.

As today marks the end of our Prayers for Pentecost we invite you to write your own prayer that flows out of the prayers this week and your meditations on Psalm 139:23-24.

Pray your prayer for another week. Consider sharing your prayer with a family member or friend. Look for ways the Holy Spirit is working in and through you and changing your daily life.

Thank you for joining us in Prayers for Pentecost this week.

May we continue to be attentive, through listening, conversation and writing, to the work of the Holy Spirit in and through our lives.
