Trust God's Provision & Priorities Above Our Own

Series: The Best Life

June 28, 2026 | Mark Mielbrecht, Global Service Associates-Leadership Development

Passage: Matthew Matt. 6:25-34

Mark Mielbrecht, one of our Mission Partners with Global Associates, teaches from Matthew 6:25–34, addressing Jesus’ command not to worry and encouraging believers to trust God's faithful provision. He explains that while it is natural to desire security and comfort, anxiety often reveals a misplaced trust in our own ability to control life rather than in God's care. Using examples of birds and wildflowers, Jesus reminds us that if God faithfully provides for His creation, He will certainly provide for His children, whose value is far greater. Mark emphasizes that worry cannot change the future but instead distracts us from God's presence and steals our peace, while faith requires surrendering control and depending on God daily. He connects this teaching to Israel receiving daily manna in the wilderness, illustrating that God often provides one day at a time to cultivate trust rather than self-sufficiency. Sharing his own testimony of leaving a secure career at Nordstrom to enter full-time ministry, Mark demonstrates how stepping out in faith allowed him to witness God's faithful provision throughout decades of ministry. He challenges the congregation to seek God's kingdom above all else, trusting that God knows every need and will provide according to His purposes. The sermon concludes by encouraging believers to replace anxiety with prayer, gratitude, and a renewed focus on today's responsibilities instead of tomorrow's uncertainties, finding lasting peace in God's faithful care.
