Becoming the Body: We are the Body - Invited into Community
Series: Vision Series - September 2025
Summary
Nick, one of the pastors at Northshore, opened the message by wrapping up a three-week series on the church’s vision and culture alongside Pastor Damien. He used the example of assembling Ikea furniture to illustrate how something can look complete but still be missing a crucial piece. In Romans 12, Paul teaches that the church is not just a crowd but a living body, where every member has a part to play. Without each person’s contribution, the church is incomplete. Nick highlighted that even high school students now joining Sunday services are an essential part of the body and bring unique gifts, talents, and energy. He reminded the congregation that Northshore’s vision is to see communities changed through the hope of Jesus, one person at a time. Each person is invited to step into that vision by realizing three truths: they are needed, they are loved, and they are sent. Being part of the church is more than attending on Sundays; it’s belonging to a community where lives are transformed by Jesus. Paul’s message in Romans 12 reinforces that in the body of Christ, there are no spare parts—every person matters. Pastor Damien then continued the teaching by unpacking the first truth: everyone is needed.
