One Wall-Many Hands

Nehemiah 3 may seem like a simple list of names, but it reveals how God brings ordinary people together to accomplish something greater than any one person could do alone. The people rebuilding Jerusalem’s walls came from different backgrounds, professions, and skill sets, yet everyone had a place and something to contribute. The message encourages us to recognize the gifts, passions, and abilities God has given us and bring them willingly to His work, even when what we offer seems small. Like the boy who offered Jesus his loaves and fish, we are responsible for bringing what we have and trusting God with the results. The builders also looked beyond their own assignments to help others, demonstrating that kingdom work is about serving God’s purposes rather than building our own kingdoms. Through examples like the Good Samaritan and the friends who brought a paralyzed man to Jesus, we are challenged to look up, notice the needs around us, and find ways to help. Together, these different people built one wall, illustrating the church as one body with Jesus as its head. North Shore is called to build communities where people encounter Jesus, make disciples, invest in the next generation, care for hurting people, develop leaders, and reach those far from God. We may never see the full impact of our work, but we can faithfully build our section, trust God with the bigger picture, and believe that He can use our combined efforts to build what lasts.
