Upside Down Love

Series: Rise

Summary

Pastor Nick opened by sharing the story of the Missionaries of Charity, founded nearly 75 years ago by Mother Teresa, whose mission was to care for the most marginalized — the hungry, homeless, and unloved. He highlighted how Mother Teresa’s quiet, faithful love demonstrated a radical way of living that did not seek power or influence but embodied selfless compassion. Connecting this to Acts 17, Pastor Nick noted how Paul and his companions were accused of “turning the world upside down,” not through force, politics, or control, but by proclaiming the message of a crucified and risen Christ. This message of Jesus was so transformative that it reshaped lives and communities, inspiring people to see the world differently. Pastor Nick emphasized that the gospel continues to turn the world upside down today through love that disarms fear, heals divisions, and cannot be stopped. He invited the congregation to consider what it means to live out this “upside-down love” in their own lives — a love that challenges cultural norms and embodies the heart of Jesus.
