What is Faith
Series: Living Like It's True
Summary
Thomas Griffin, our Campus Pastor, introduces a new four-week series through Hebrews 11 focused on what real faith looks like, beginning with the truth that faith is trusting in what we cannot see. The speaker explains that faith is not blind belief but a trust grounded in seeking and discovering what is true, ultimately pointing to Jesus as the Christ. Hebrews was written to encourage Christians facing persecution and pressure to remain steadfast, reminding them that Jesus is superior to angels, Moses, and the sacrificial system and is the ultimate High Priest. The sermon emphasizes that every step of a believer’s life is one of faith: we are saved by faith, Christ dwells in our hearts by faith, we live by faith, approach God with confidence by faith, and overcome the world by faith. Even through grief, financial struggles, relationship problems, and other hardships, believers can trust God because He has the power and love to carry them through. The examples of Abel, Enoch, and Noah demonstrate that genuine faith produces faithful obedience, even when God’s instructions are difficult or when others do not understand. Noah’s story especially reminds believers that faithfulness may not always receive an immediate response from others, but Christians are still called to faithfully represent God and care for those who do not know Him. Ultimately, the sermon challenges listeners not to remain stagnant in their faith but to continually ask God to increase their faith and help them trust and obey His Word.
