Financial Freedom That Lasts

Series: Financial Freedom That Lasts

October 12, 2025 | Scott Harris

Passage: Haggai 1:4-6

Lead Pastor, Scott Harris, brings a message that focuses on financial freedom and biblical stewardship, drawing from the book of Haggai. Pastor Scott explains that this series temporarily pauses the church’s study in Acts to discuss what it means to manage money in a way that honors God. Over October, families are encouraged to talk and pray about finances together—celebrating faithfulness, facing fears, and seeking God’s direction. In November, the church will collect and share stories of how God has worked through financial obedience.

The sermon emphasizes that financial conversations should feel like family discussions, not guilt-driven messages. The biblical model for financial freedom is summarized in four key principles: give, save, serve, and spend—give to God at your place of worship, save to create margin, serve God with your time and resources, and spend wisely. The pastor highlights the danger of financial bondage, quoting Matthew 6:24: “You cannot serve both God and money.”

He describes how money can enslave people—causing exhaustion, stress, and relational conflict—and shares statistics revealing that most Americans struggle financially. Jesus talked so much about money because it so easily captures our hearts and becomes a false master. The ultimate goal of the series is to help the church experience true financial freedom, defined by contentment and margin, so that God—not money—remains the Lord of our lives.
