Passage: Acts 18:18-28
Pastor Scott begins his message with a “living illustration,” inviting Leon to the stage to share how discipleship transformed his life. After COVID devastated church attendance, Scott prayed about how to rebuild Northshore and felt God call him to personally model discipleship rather than just instruct his staff. Following that prompting, he started a men’s group and invited new attenders—including Leon—to join. Leon shares how he and his family moved across the country searching for a church home and how an unexpected text from Pastor Scott led him into genuine Christian community. Initially skeptical and seeking only knowledge, Leon’s perspective shifted when he realized discipleship was about relationship—with Jesus and others. Through the group, he learned that friendship with Christ is central to faith, and that God often works through relationships to grow believers. Over time, Leon began discipling others—starting with his family and coworkers—and now serves in men’s ministry and on the school board. Pastor Scott connects Leon’s story to Acts 18, showing that Paul modeled the same principle: disciples making disciples who make disciples. The sermon concludes with a reminder that fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19–20) requires every believer to intentionally live out relational discipleship, sharing the Gospel and helping others grow in faith.
