Passage: Acts 9:32-43
Pastor Nick begins by reflecting on how God has the power to interrupt and transform lives, as seen in the story of Saul in Acts. Moving into Acts 9:32–43, he shifts the focus to Peter and two miracles that illustrate Jesus breaking into brokenness with healing, hope, and new life. First, Peter heals Aeneas, a man paralyzed for eight years, showing that the power of God continues to move through the apostles and that healing is a sign of God's kingdom at work. Then, in Joppa, Peter raises a woman named Tabitha (Dorcas) from the dead, prompted by a grieving community who deeply valued her compassion and service.
Pastor Nick emphasizes that these miracles are not random but serve as reminders that God's kingdom is still breaking into the world, bringing restoration both individually and communally. He calls the church to live as a people of compassionate action, not just in dramatic miracles, but in daily acts of love and presence—especially to the overlooked and vulnerable. Through examples like the Dunkirk boat rescue and a woman serving on a church bus in New York City, he illustrates how small, sacrificial acts can bring hope and even be lifelines.
The message challenges listeners to "untie their boats" and live lives that are interruptible—open to compassion and action in a hurried, distracted world. Nick concludes by urging anyone spiritually weary or distant to receive the resurrection hope of Jesus, who breaks in to heal, awaken, and invite them into a new life. This is more than a call to believe—it’s a call to embody resurrection through love in action.
