Passage: Acts 14:8-23
Pastor Scott Harris returned to preach for the first time in two months, expressing excitement and focusing on Acts 14, particularly verses 8–23. He emphasized that the gospel’s purpose is to transform lives, and that encountering Jesus should always bring change—sometimes subtly, sometimes dramatically. Drawing from the story of Paul and Barnabas in Lystra, Pastor Scott contrasted “right faith” in Jesus with “wrong faith” in false idols, sharing an example of a Hindu priest in India who realized his carved stone idol could not change his life. He taught that right faith is faith in Jesus as the crucified and risen Savior, the only source of forgiveness, freedom, and salvation. Harris pointed out that right faith produces transformation, illustrated by the healing of a crippled man who sprang up and walked after believing Paul’s message. He noted that miracles may take many forms—physical healing, deliverance, restored hope, peace—but the most consistent miracle is a new heart and spirit given by God. Harris challenged listeners to consider whether they have truly experienced life transformation through Jesus and whether that transformation is ongoing, urging them not to rely solely on a past experience but to continue building their lives on right faith.
